Consider a Tent for Motorcycle Trips

By September 25, 2017No Comments

Fall is in the air and it’s time to hit the road.  When planning your trip you need to decide, are you going to stay in a motel or enjoy the open air and sleep under the stars.  Whichever way you decide, it may benefit you to throw in your tent for motorcycle trips.

There are so many options for tents these days.  From small one man tents to tents that can accommodate you and your motorcycle.  The price will also vary from $30.00 for the cheap, to up to $599.00 for the Redverz Atacama Expedition Tent.

To decide which is the best fit here are some things to consider:
  • Outside Temperature
  • Comfort
  • Weight & Size
  • Covers your Motorcycle
  • Ease of Setup

To make your trip as flawless as possible, be sure and practice setting up your tent.  We have seen the demo videos and each time the person has a mallet to hammer in the tent spikes.  Who carries a mallet with them? Not me.  So practice using what you will have with you. Make sure your sleeping bag pad will fit in the tent and it’s the right density for a good night’s sleep.  You don’t want to be hurting the next morning from sleeping on the hard ground.  Again, why not try spending a night outside before your trip to make sure the pad is comfortable enough.

Once you have decided the best fit then you will need to weight all your camping gear.  You do not want to overload your motorcycle, check the manual for the maximum weight.  If you have a long trip planned and your motorcycle just isn’t big enough to carry everything you need, then it’s time to look into a pull behind trailer.  We will discuss that in another article.

The road is calling so get out there and enjoy life.
